Iceland: Natural Systems & Sustainability (11 days)

A hands-on expedition set in Iceland’s dynamic natural landscapes, focused on understanding natural systems and sustainability in action. Students explore volcanic terrain, geothermal areas, glaciers and waterways while learning how these environments are shaped and managed. Along the way, they examine renewable energy, environmental change, and the relationship between people and nature, while building confidence, teamwork and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Itinerary Snapshot

  • Be ready at the airport at least 3 hours for checking in and take the flight to Iceland.

  • Arrival at Keflavík International Airport and transfer to Reykjavík.

  • Full-day Golden Circle tour visiting Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir Geothermal Area, and Gullfoss waterfall.

  • Visit Hellisheiði Power Station to learn about geothermal energy and carbon capture. Afternoon visit to the Blue Lagoon.

  • Transfer from Reykjavík to Vík or Hvolsvöllur along the South Coast. Stops at Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach.

  • Morning visit to the Katla Ice Cave including a Super-Jeep experience.

  • Guided glacier walk on Sólheimajökull and afternoon visit to Diamond Beach.

  • Visit Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon. Possible Northern Lights viewing in the evening if conditions allow.

  • Transfer back to Reykjavík and visit the Perlan Museum.

  • Transfer to Keflavík International Airport for departure. Arrive back in your home country.
